In high school, college and the first 3 years of graduate school I made Cs on most of my term papers. Was I stupid? No, I have a higher than average IQ and intensive studying and reading has always been easy for me. What was my problem? Or better yet, what was the solution? A coach.
I entered my doctoral program with some concern about my writing abilities. When I expressed this to my wife she (an English major) volunteered to proof read my papers. She looked at my first paper and said "I can see the issue already. You have great ideas but you are far too brief in explaining them." I said, "That it??? That is the whole reason?" She said. "Yes. Expand your points in depth and I can almost guarantee you all As on your papers."
She was right! I followed her suggestion and never made less than an A- on any writing assignment from that day forward. I graduated my doctoral program cum laude thanks to her superb coaching advice. By the way, I have since become a published author (The Prayer Diet) and a national internet columnist (7 years) for a major weight loss company (eDiets.com ).
My point here is this: 5 minutes of perceptive insight from the right coach can change part or all of your life (if you pay attention). What was her advice worth to me? It is impossible to assign a monetary value but it would be enormous.
Inspiration
After a long and difficult spiritual and psychological journey, I was blessed with
